The Slavic Genocide Memorial Day was commemorated in the center of Nitra and on the Slovansky Dvor in the village of Alekshince

On June 22, 2023, a traditional event dedicated to the International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Slavic Genocide victims took place in Nitra and the village of Alekshince. This Memorial Day was proclaimed five years ago at Slavic congresses in Prague, Moscow, and Kyiv. It was a response to the fact that the Holocaust and genocide are recognized only in relation to a specific nationality, partially in relation to several other nations, but they were committed against the 350-million Slavic population and continue to this day. 

The annual International Russian Language Day takes place at the United Nations Headquarters in Geneva on 6 June 2023

On 6 June, we celebrate the 224 anniversary of the birth of Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin. Pushkin Day is commemorated annually in Russia and is the International Russian Language Day. According to UN data, approximately 250 million people on the planet speak Russian. On June 6, on the day of the great Russian poet's birth, the Russian Language Day is held at the UN headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, in an online format. The annual commemoration is part of a programme to promote and develop multilingualism and cultural diversity.

One of the tasks of this programme is to promote the equality of all six official languages of the United Nations, namely Russian, English, Arabic, Spanish, Chinese and French.

Day of the Holy Trinity - the most important church holiday for Orthodox believers, as a symbol of the trinity of God

The Holy Trinity is one of the twelve most important dates in the Orthodox world. Its celebration falls on the fiftieth day from Easter - in 2023 this Sunday, June 4th.

Children’s day in Slovakia

The first of June is International Children's Day in many countries. It was decided in 1925 at the World Conference on Child Welfare in Geneva. It has been celebrated in Slovakia since 1952. The original idea of the holiday was to draw society's attention to the need to protect children's rights. On this day, parents are usually with their little ones, and spend it mostly by going to the countryside, taking part in various celebrations and travelling. Children receive sweets and gifts, but the most important thing adults can give them is their time!

The Day of Slavic Literature and Culture was celebrated in Bratislava

Every year on May 24, residents of Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Bulgaria and many other Slavic countries celebrate the Day of Slavic Literature and Culture. The holiday is dedicated to the Day of Remembrance of Saints Equal-to-the-Apostles Cyril and Methodius, who created the alphabet and gave rise to Slavic writing.
In honor of this day, the European Foundation of Slavic Literature and Culture held an educational online campaign "Day of Slavic Literature and Culture". The history of the holiday”, which was attended by students of Russian language courses, members of the conversation club, library readers.
