Sociocultural classes for children of refugees and displaced from Ukraine

On March 18, 2022, employees of the European Foundation of Slavic Literature and Culture and the Foundation of Ukraininan Literature and Culture met children from Ukraine within their walls for the next socio-cultural adaptation classes.

Classes with children who came with their parents from Ukraine are held in cooperation with the Private Slavic Gymnasium in Bratislava with the active support of specialists in working with children from among compatriots.

In accordance with the short-term plan, Sunday school classes were organized for children - children participate in activities of interest, receive high-quality psychological and pedagogical support, go in for physical education and participate in cognitive activities.

This time the classes were attended by 23 children aged 7 to 13 years.

Social psychologists conducted group classes on working with stress using art therapy techniques.

The teaching staff of the Foundations organized educational sessions in a playful way, which were aimed at the socialization and integration of children into the Slovak language and Slovak culture. An integral part of these classes was the lessons of the Slovak language, prepared by native speakers. With sincere interest, the children got acquainted with a selection of words that mean the same expression in different languages, and the stories about the amazing castles of Slovakia made them want to visit them and study them in more detail.

Traditionally, the employees of the Robbo Club in Bratislava and the school of mental arithmetic held classes on free programming. And in the vocal lessons, the guys sang their favorite songs.

The purpose of such classes is to help children adapt to new social conditions, as well as give them a lot of positive emotions, which are very important for children in these difficult days.
