Master classes for children arriving from Ukraine

On March 11, 2022, employees of the European Foundation of Slavic Literature and Culture, together with the Foundation of Ukrainian literature and Culture, within the framework of cooperation with the Private Slavic Gymnasium in Bratislava, as well as with the support of specialists in working with children from among compatriots, conducted cognitive classes for children who arrived from with their parents from Ukraine.

The first lesson was devoted to acquaintance with Slovakia: through presentation materials, the children were introduced to the world of culture and life of the Slovaks. For children, psychological support is also very important now, this was facilitated by a session with a professional psychologist who, with the help of art therapy, taught children techniques that help to cope with strong emotions. The creative lesson allowed the participants not only to enter the world of their sensations, but also to analyze complex complexes of sensations, depicting them on one sheet of paper. So, with the help of visual visualization of their mood, the children learned to improve the skill of self-control.

Then the children were treated to a master class on free programming - it captivated young programmers and designers. The guys learned how robots work, studied their circuitry, went all the way from creating an algorithm to control the robot on the screen to programming and translating the algorithm into reality using a robotic platform. And at this time, other guys were happy to do vocals, they performed their favorite songs. At the end of the adaptation day, educational games were held to develop thinking and fantasy, where everyone could feel like Sherlock Holmes. There was a positive, friendly atmosphere in the classroom.

The European Foundation of Slavic Literature and Culture plans to hold similar events in the future, already on an ongoing basis.
