July 13, 1928 - July 16, 1990  

Valentin Pikul wrote multi-volume epics and miniatures, combined fiction with documentary prose and most of all loved the motherland, history and the sea. He kept records of all his characters - more than a thousand cards were kept in the writer's card index.

The future writer was born in Leningrad in 1928. As a child, Valentin Pikul dreamed of becoming a sailor. When the family moved from Leningrad to Molotovsk (now Severodvinsk) under construction, the boy joined the "Young Sailor" club at the local Pioneer House.

The Feast of St. Ivan Kupala

The Feast of St. Ivan Kupala has been celebrated in a merry and grand way for centuries. It is associated with many customs and traditions, many of which will be respected in 2023. One of the most famous folk festivals is the Day of Ivan Kupala. Its history goes back into the past - so it is surprising that its traditions have survived to this day. Many celebrate Ivan Kupala in 2023 according to the traditions of our ancestors.

Large-scale events are held in Central European countries dedicated to the creators of the Slavic alphabet, the Church Slavonic language and the preachers of Christianity, Saints Cyril and Methodius.

The commemoration of the arrival of St. Cyril and Methodius in Moravia is not only about church life. Their purpose is to tell about the cultural and educational significance of the work of the Solunsk brothers.

The brothers were born in the city of Solun (now Thessaloniki). Methodius was born in 815, the younger brother was born twelve years later. At birth he received the name Constantine. He did not become Cyril until after his tonsure as a monk, shortly before his death. He did become Cyril only after his tonsure as a monk, shortly before his death.
