Russian Center in Bratislava took part in the XIV Assembly of the “Russian World”

On November 10, 2020, the XIV Assembly of the Russian World, which was held online for the first time, completed its work. The opening ceremony began with a speech of Vyacheslav Nikonov, Chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee on Education and Science, Chairman of the Board of the Russian World Foundation.

President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill sent their greetings to the forum participants.

These annual international forums have traditionally been held since 2007 and are aimed at supporting and popularizing the Russian language, culture, history of Russia, discussing the life and activities of Russian compatriots abroad, problems of teaching the Russian language and teaching in Russian outside Russia.

For several days there were interesting discussions and round tables in which scientists and cultural figures from Russia and other countries took part: the panel discussion "Russian World Online", presentations of textbooks, teaching guides and programs, an online meeting of students "Friends, our union is wonderful: Together again!", a meeting of the editorial board of the "Russian World.ru " magazine with readers, a round table "The World of Fyodor Dostoevsky" and many others.

The Russian Center of the European Foundation of Slavic Literature and Culture took part in all the actions and events of the Assembly. Center's staff, teachers and course participants watched together a live broadcast of the discussion on the topic "How to teach Russian in the digital age?", after which an exchange of views took place. The views of the listeners did not coincide in everything; some of them expressed a non-standard approach to distance learning.

Special interest was raised to the online meeting with the executive director of the Russian World Foundation - Vladimir Kochin, which took place on November 9. He spoke about the peculiarities of working in the difficult conditions of restrictions caused by the coronavirus and about the new opportunities that modern digital technologies provide. All participants in the meeting had the opportunity to ask questions directly.
