Vernissage of the Igor Grabar Exhibition in Bratislava

On October 29, the AIRCRAFT Gallery hosted the grand opening of an exhibition dedicated to Igor Emmanuilovich Grabar—celebrated painter, art historian, and prominent restorer.

The vernissage brought together representatives of the diplomatic corps, Slovak cultural and artistic figures, and enthusiasts of Russian language and cultural heritage. The evening gathered all who appreciate the artist's legacy and versatile life's work.

The opening program commenced with a short video on Grabar's early years, recounting how the Rusyn boy came to Russia. Professor Igor Bondarenko, President of the European Slavic Literature and Culture Foundation, then delivered an opening address to the assembled guests.

A subsequent screening focused on Grabar’s artistic oeuvre as a painter, followed by remarks from Konstantin Nefedov, Minister-Counselor of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Slovakia. The program proceeded with a feature on Grabar the restorer, highlighting an essential chapter of his multifaceted career in cultural preservation.

His Beatitude Vladyka Christopher, Honorary Archbishop of Prague and Metropolitan of the Czech Lands and Slovakia, offered a blessing for the exhibition. Concluding the ceremonial proceedings, Konstantin Nefedov formally declared the exhibition open.

The atmosphere of the vernissage mirrored Igor Grabar's dynamic personality—his creative passion, vibrant vitality, and charismatic presence. Following the formal proceedings, guests were invited to a reception where conversations continued in a warm and celebratory setting.
