On July 29, the European Fund of Slavic Written Culture and Literature hosted a methodological meeting dedicated to the teaching of the Russian language in Slovakia.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Natalia Meselmi, Vice President of the Fund and Professor at the Department of Slavic Philology at Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra. She outlined the current teaching practices of the Russian language at the university, student interest in language acquisition, and the importance of high-quality educational and methodological materials in the academic process.
Participants paid special attention to providing teachers and students with modern educational resources. Prof. Igor Bondarenko, President of the European Fund of Slavic Written Culture and Literature, presented the department with a set of teaching guides, dictionaries, and educational publications from the Zlatoust Publishing House, which will be used in coursework with students learning Russian.
The study of the Russian language provides access to a rich literary and cultural heritage, fosters intercultural dialogue, and strengthens humanitarian cooperation. For this reason, it is essential that educators and students have access to modern, high-quality educational literature that meets contemporary educational standards.
The European Fund of Slavic Written Culture and Literature, in cooperation with the Russian Center, continues to support projects aimed at advancing Slavic languages, education, and international cultural cooperation.
By decision of the European Fund of Slavic Written Culture and Literature, the annual Russian Language Day will take place this September, featuring a strong methodological focus. The central event of the program will be a gathering of university faculty, Russian language teachers, and specialists in Russian studies.
Prof. Natalia Meselmi will present an overview of modern instructional and methodological materials published by Zlatoust, address their practical application in teaching Russian as a foreign language (RFL), and introduce participants to new study guides, dictionaries, and comprehensive teaching sets.
As part of the event, university faculty and schoolteachers of Russian will receive complimentary textbooks, teaching manuals, and dictionaries from Zlatoust. The organizers are confident that this initiative will serve as another meaningful contribution to supporting Russian language instruction in Slovakia, assisting educators in their professional endeavors, and promoting further humanitarian cooperation and cultural
dialogue.
