Library Operations of the European Foundation for Slavic Literature and Culture During the Summer Period

The library of the European Foundation for Slavic Literature and Culture (EFSLC), established in 2015 in Bratislava, holds over 6,000 books. Its collection includes fiction, scientific, and educational literature in Russian, Slovak, Ukrainian, Belarusian, and other Slavic languages.

The summer season does not diminish interest in the library. One of its most active readers is Alexandra Fyodorovna, a representative of the older generation. She is fascinated by both prominent historical figures (Peter I, Andrei Gromyko) and cultural personalities (Leonid Utesov, Vladimir Vysotsky, Oleg Efremov). She particularly enjoys the series *Lives of Remarkable People* and *My 20th Century*. Alexandra Fyodorovna has also eagerly reread nearly all books dedicated to outstanding women, including biographies of Lyubov Orlova, Vera Vasilyeva, and Galina Vishnevskaya. She finds special inspiration in the autobiographical stories of female artists such as Rina Zelenaya and Olga Aroseva.

We are delighted that the library also attracts the foundation’s guests. For instance, photographer Vyacheslav Shambazov, inspired by cinema, immediately took an interest in the autobiography *Lived* by Georgy Zhzhenov, the famous actor who played the lead role in a Soviet spy film tetralogy.

Photographer Milan Krupchik showed a keen interest in literature on art and the history of Slavic peoples.

The foundation’s library continues its vibrant activity and is already planning new events for the fall. In collaboration with Slovak Radio, an exhibition dedicated to the Slavic book is being prepared in its gallery space.

We invite everyone studying the Russian language or interested in literature and history to visit our library!
