In spring of this year, a standout event was the opening of the banner photo exhibition “Russia. Unique Regions and People”, which was successfully held at the Aircraft gallery. The photographs were provided by the “Russkiy Mir” Foundation. The banner format proved practical and versatile: thanks to its mobility, the exhibition was shown in several locations — from the lobby of Slovak Radio to the Ivan Horvat Gymnasium in Bratislava, where the Russian language is actively studied.
The foundation continues to develop partnerships with both professional photographers and young talents, regularly organizing thematic exhibitions. The next step in this work is the launch of a photo contest titled “My Slovakia”, which will lead to the creation of a new banner exhibition: “Slovakia. Unique Places and People.”
As part of the project’s preparation, a meeting and video conference were held with members of the competition council. Among the participants were well-known photographers living in Slovakia — Vyacheslav Shambazov, Alexander Antonov, Milan Krupčík, and others. The foundation’s art director, Yulia Krasulya, defined the exhibition’s conceptual direction and coordinated the work of both professionals and beginners, including the youngest contributors.
The meeting also had a methodological dimension. Students from Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica, who are currently interning at the foundation, took part in the video conference. They were introduced to the photographers, the exhibition theme, and participated in the discussion of organizational matters. This experience undoubtedly expanded their vocabulary and provided a hands-on opportunity to work with the materials they will later translate for the bilingual (Russian-Slovak) exhibition.
EFSLiC hopes that the new exhibition will become not only an important artistic event, but also a valuable contribution to intercultural dialogue, enhanced humanitarian cooperation, and the strengthening of cultural bridges between nations.
