The Exhibition “The Light of Yasnaya Polyana” Introduced Slovak Students of Matej Bel University to the History of Leo Tolstoy's Estate Museum

On March 15, 2024, a banner exhibition "The Light of Yasnaya Polyana," dedicated to the history of the estate museum of L. N. Tolstoy, "Yasnaya Polyana," concluded at the Department of Slavic Languages of the Faculty of Arts at Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica.

From March 4th to 15th, 2024, the exhibition was visited by university students and educators. 

The exhibition was prepared by the staff of Leo Tolstoy's estate museum “Yasnaya Polyana” (Yasnaya Polyana, Russia) in collaboration with the European Slavic Literature and Culture Foundation (Bratislava) and the Department of Slavic Languages of the Faculty of Arts at Matej Bel University.

The exhibition was in full swing with students admiring the unique photographs from Leo Tolstoy’s life, as well as images depicting the estate itself, its interiors, and the surrounding landscape.

Lev Nikolayevich was born in Yasnaya Polyana (September 9, 1828), where he spent most of his 82-year life. It was in Yasnaya Polyana that he created the majority of his literary work, including the famous novels “War and Peace” and “Anna Karenina”, known and beloved worldwide, including in Slovakia.
