"War does not have a woman's face" - the theme of a memory lesson

“War does not have a female face” under this title on April 25, 2023, an online memory lesson dedicated to the Victory Day in World War II was held at the European Foundation of Slavic Literature and Culture.
The students of the Russian language courses were asked to choose one of their favorite military films for self-study. From several films, students chose the famous film directed by Sergei Mokritsky "Battle for Sevastopol".
The script of this film was created on the basis of historical events - the defense of the city of Sevastopol, which was one of the first to take the blow of the fascist army, and according to the plans of the invaders, it was to be renamed Theodorichshafen.
The film left an indelible impression, and the bright fate of the most successful female sniper in world history, Lyudmila Pavlichenko, did not leave anyone indifferent. Students actively and emotionally led a discussion about the role and purpose of women in war. The participants in the discussion agreed that the mission of a woman is not only to give life, but also to protect it. The fate of the female hero so inspired one of the students that he wrote a poem in Russian:
Lyudmila Pavlichenko is your name.
The war decided the fate of many, it decided yours too.
You were a sniper and brought death
But femininity did not kill in itself.

You could kill, you could give life.
How to be a woman and fight?
The soul was torn to pieces:
You walked forward, it was hard to carry this burden.

Lyudmila Pavlichenko, you are a legend!
Your choice was hard but right
You were a woman and you were a sniper
Your name will forever be preserved through the ages.
