On the 10th of November 2016 in the Russian Center was hosted a discussion on "The image of Russia in the Slovak media and its impact on the public debate." As a basis for the discussion was the performance of the head of the Russian Center, Executive Director of the European Foundation of Slavic Literature and Culture Alexander Bushuev. He acquainted participators with the results of the International Conference on the theme "Civil society, the media and the authorities, Russian and European experience", which was held on the 2nd of November in Moscow.
The presentation contained information regarding the status of the media in Slovakia, public discussions in Slovak society, the activities of the Russian Center of the "Russian world" to strengthen Russia's image. The presentation was very interesting to all participants.
As part of the conference with the most interesting presentations were also made by well-known experts from 12 European countries: the journalist Yevgeny Primakov, Russian political scientist Natalia Narochnitskaya, chief editor of the "International Life" magazine Armen Oganesyan, a personal adviser of the former president of France, Nicolas Sarkozy Ivan Blau (France ), Russian political scientist, historian, journalist Elena Ponomareva, professor at Complutense University of Madrid Svetlana Malyavina (Spain) and many others.
The organizers of the international conference were Russian State Humanitarian University, the Foundation of the historical perspective and the International Association of Peace Foundations. The meeting discussed topical issues - the formation of a multipolar world, information wars, the role and place of Russia in the world, censorship in contemporary society and the media, the level of aggression and extremism in society, Russia's image in the European media and others.
In debates, deployed in the Russian center, have participated Russian compatriots. The participants expressed different views, argued, but all agree on the common opinion - the role of Russia in the modern world is growing, its foreign political activity is gaining in popularity, which enjoys the confidence in the Slovak society. Compatriots were interested in assessments that were given from participants from other countries on the world changes.
Also compatriots were acquainted with the work of the 10th Jubilee of the Assembly of the "Russian world". Panelists noted the important role of the Russian language, considering it as a factor of unity.
