European Day of Languages ​​in Bratislava

On September 26, 2022, the European Foundation of Slavic Literature and Culture, together with the Foundation of Ukrainian Literature and Culture and with the language school "Spectrum" held an interactive open lesson "Learn languages!" Dedicated to the European Day of Languages. It was attended by students and teachers of Slovak schools and gymnasiums, as well as students of language courses.

The European Day of Languages has been celebrated annually since September 26, 2001 at the initiative of the Council of Europe to encourage the study of different languages. Since the formation of the EFSP&K in 2016, teaching foreign languages has become an integral part of the educational and educational activities of the foundation. Great importance is attached to the Slavic languages: Slovak, Russian, Ukrainian.

 In greeting the guests and participants of the meeting, the teaching staff of the Foundation noted the importance of knowing foreign languages for a successful, full-fledged business and cultural life in modern society.

Then the participants went on a virtual journey through the cities of Europe, interesting facts about which were accompanied by a slide show and video.

Then the students told what languages they speak, what languages they plan to learn. We compared the sound of international words, gave their vivid examples.

They listened with interest to the report on the group of Slavic languages, their phonetic, lexical and grammatical features. Participants were asked to find common ground between related languages.

The discussion that unfolded made it possible to see how multilingual our world is, and knowledge of languages contributes to building bridges of friendship and mutual understanding.
