Memorial Day of Vladimir Vysotsky is celebrated annually on July 25. This outstanding poet, actor and singer-songwriter died on July 25, 1980, but his legacy lives on in the hearts of fans around the world to this day. Forty-three years after his death, Vysotsky is still a source of inspiration for many people. His deep poetry, husky voice and unique style continue to impress listeners with their power and emotion.

Appearing of the Icon of the Most Holy Mother of God in the Grad of Kazan (1579)

On October 1, 1552, on the feast of the Intercession of the Most Holy Mother of God, at night, John IV, the leader of the Russian soldiers preparing for a decisive assault on the Tatar Kazan, suddenly heard the chime of Moscow bells. The Tsar realized that this was a sign of God's mercy: through the prayers of the Chosen Voivode, the Lord wanted to turn the people of Kazan to Himself.

Ernest Miller Hemingway was born July 21, 1899 in Oak Park, Illinois (USA) in the family of a doctor.

In 1928 the writer's father committed suicide. Ernest, the oldest son of six children, attended several Oak Park schools and wrote stories and poems for the school newspapers.

Vladimir Vladimirovich Mayakovsky (1893 - 1930) - poet, publicist, playwright. Born in Georgia in the village of Baghdadi.
The first education in the biography of Vladimir Mayakovsky was received at the gymnasium of the city of Kutaisi. In 1906 he moved to Moscow with his mother, began to study at the fifth gymnasium. The revolution did not leave Mayakovsky aside. He asked for training, then joined the Russian Social Democratic Labor Party.

Yevgeny Yevtushenko began to write as a child - his first poems were dedicated to sports and holidays. Works about the problems and experiences of Soviet man began to be published only in the thaw years. In 1961 the poet became famous for the resonant poem "Babi Yar", Dmitry Shostakovich wrote a symphony on its verses. After the collapse of the USSR, Yevtushenko moved to the United States and published a collection of Russian poetry.

17 July marks the anniversary of the Declaration of Sovereignty of the Slovak Republic. On this day in 1992, the Declaration on the Sovereignty of the Slovak Republic was adopted in the National Council of the Slovak Republic under the leadership of then President Ivan Gašparovič. Of the 147 members present, 113 voted in favor, 24 voted against and ten abstained.
