Week of the Russian language in Slovakia

On October 12, 2020, the Russian Language Week started in Slovakia with the participation of specialists from the Surgut State Pedagogical University, the Slovak universities of Preshov (Preshov) and Matej Bela (Banska Bystrica). Officials from Russia and the Slovak Republic took part in the opening ceremony.

The main goal of the project is to promote the Russian language and culture, support Russian-speaking schools and Russian compatriots abroad. Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous District - Ugra has been making a significant contribution to this business for many years. The project received the support of the district administration and the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Slovakia.

The week was opened with a roundtable meeting on the topic "Russian language and Russian culture in Slovakia", which took place online. The following topics were discussed: bilingual gymnasiums and schools in Slovakia, the activities of public organizations, support and development of the Russian language and culture, problems and prospects for interaction between Ugra and Slovakia. Specialists and teachers from universities, bilingual schools and gymnasiums, Russian centers and compatriot organizations took part in the round table.

The Russian Center of the European Foundation of Slavic Literature and Culture presented a report in the form of a video presentation on the topic "Using innovative teaching methods during a pandemic."

At the end of the round table, the participants expressed confidence in the need to continue joint research activities, methodological support of educational institutions in Slovakia on promoting the Russian language, developing academic mobility and publishing.
