A series of workshops on the Russian language and culture in Bratislava

The Russian Center in Bratislava, the European Fund of Slavic Literature and Culture held a series of seminars on the Russian language and culture. Seminars were held for students of Russian language courses in order to expand vocabulary and familiarity with the best representatives of Russian culture. Two seminars were held in November and one in December.

On the 19th of November, 2016 was held a seminar on the theme "Travel across Slavic countries." At the seminar was represented an experience of Master of Philology of the University of Bialystok in Poland Lucia Mikolayuk. She talked about her travels through Slavic countries and shared her impressions of the proximity of these countries, cultures, traditions and languages.

On the 28th of November 2016 was performed a seminar on the theme "Life and Works of Russian composer Dmitri Shostakovich", which was dedicated to the 110 anniversary of his birth.

There was a lecture on the composer's life, his world-famous works, creative successes and state awards. The lecture was followed by a slide show on the screen and the music of Shostakovich.

On the 2d of December 2016 was held a seminar entitled "Museum-Reserve Kolomenskoye". Students learned about the history and architecture of medieval Moscow.

The participants listened to a lecture about the history of the village of Kolomenskoye, which is connected with the events of medieval Russia, heavy battles and terrible ruin by Mongolian. Today the territory of Kolomenskoye museum is one of the oldest places of human habitation on the territory of modern Moscow.

One of the participants presented the report in Russian on "Sovereign's yard in Kolomna". The presentation was filled with colorful views of architectural monuments of the XVI - XIX centuries: the Spassky Gates, Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, the front gate complex of the Church of the Ascension (UNESCO monument), the house of Peter, and others.

Video complemented beautifully illustrated albums, which were donated by the director of the Moscow State United Museum-Reserve "Kolomenskoye" to the Russian Center.

Workshops were held with a great interest by the trainees. They have acquainted with Russian history and culture, looked at the illustrations, albums and slides and expressed a desire to visit Russia.
