In Slovakia, the memory of the prisoners of the Nazi death camp Auschwitz and the victims of the siege of Leningrad was honored

On January 27, 2022, on the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Holocaust and on the Day of the Complete Liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi Siege, the Russian Center of the European Foundation of Slavic Literature and Culture took part in the 12th session of the International Public Forum - “Grateful descendants in memory of the 77th anniversary of the liberation of Nazi prisoners by the Red Army Auschwitz death camp and the 78th anniversary of the lifting of the siege of Leningrad.
The forum was organized by the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly with the support of the Eurasian Academy of Television and Radio, the Military Heritage Institute and the Digital History Research Foundation.
The Forum was attended by historians, search engines, representatives of military and veteran organizations, public figures from eleven countries: Russia, Belarus, Israel, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Slovakia, Serbia, Lithuania, Latvia, Moldova and Estonia.
The participants discussed the problems associated with the preservation of historical memory - the lifting of the blockade of Leningrad and the tragedy of the Holocaust, the memory of the victims of the death camps and the inadmissibility of a repetition of this in the future.
 
On behalf of the Council of Compatriots in Slovakia, Natalia Balanova made a presentation.
In her report, she told what kind of work the compatriots, united in the Union of Russians in Slovakia, are doing to preserve the memory of the feat of our people, who liberated the world from fascism. She emphasized the great work of the Russian Embassy in Slovakia, the Russian House in Bratislava (Rossotrudnichestvo) and the Russian Center of the European Foundation of Slavic Literature and Culture (Russkiy Mir Foundation) to preserve historical truth.
