The solemn ceremony at Slavin took place on the day of liberation of Bratislava

04.04.2018in Bratislava at the memorial complex "Slavin" a solemn ceremony,dedicated to the 73rd anniversary of the liberation of the Slovak capital from the Nazi invaders, took place.


In the military cemetery Slavin 6,845 soldiers and officers of the Red Army are buried out of the 17,000 Red Army soldiers, who gave their lives for the liberation of Bratislava. The complex is located in the center of the Slovak capital, it is crowned by a 37 meter statue of a soldier-liberator.


The solemn ceremony was attended by Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation in the Slovak Republic A.L. Fedotov, Prime Minister of Slovakia Peter Pellegrini,Chairman of the National Council of Slovakia Andrey Danko, members of the Government and deputies of the Parliament of Slovakia, heads of diplomatic missions and military attaches of many countries, representatives of political parties and public organizations, war veterans, compatriots and numerous of media.


The solemn ceremony was attended by a guard of honour in national uniform and a state military orchestra. Anthems of Slovakia and Russia were performed. Under the sound of solemn melodies the ceremony participants laid wreaths and flowers at the monument to the fallen Soviet soldiers. Among the participants of the celebrations were many children. Russian and Slovak flags were in the hands of the participants.


Thedelegation of the employees of the Russian Center and the European Foundationof Slavic Literature and Culture also took part in the solemn ceremony. Honourwas given to the dead soldiers and a wreath with a ribbon and inscriptions waslaid at the memorial.
