Mother's Day is among the symbolic international days that have their historical value. It is not a traditional national holiday or non-working day. It is celebrated every year on the second Sunday of May. According to these rules, Mother's Day will be celebrated on May 14, 2023.
This day originated roughly in the period of antiquity. In various cultures, women were celebrated as givers of life. The English Mothering Sunday, which originated roughly in the 16th century, is considered to be the predecessor of this holiday. Mother's Day took its current form at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.

On May 8, 2023, in the capital of Slovakia, more than 200 people took part in an event dedicated to the 78th anniversary of the victory over fascism.
On this day, wreaths and flowers were laid at the monument to the Soviet liberator soldier at the Slavin memorial complex in the center of Bratislava.

The date May 8 refers to the anniversary of the surrender of Nazi Germany, which took effect on May 8, 1945, at 23:00. In some countries this day is also known as Victory in Europe Day.
The signing of Germany's surrender put an end to the greatest armed conflict in the history of mankind, but only in Europe. Fighting continued in the Far East and ended with the surrender of Japan on September 2, 1945, at 23:00.

“War does not have a female face” under this title on April 25, 2023, an online memory lesson dedicated to the Victory Day in World War II was held at the European Foundation of Slavic Literature and Culture.
The students of the Russian language courses were asked to choose one of their favorite military films for self-study. From several films, students chose the famous film directed by Sergei Mokritsky "Battle for Sevastopol".

The exposition of the exhibition presents 97 graphic and pictorial works of fine arts, drawings of Japanese and German prisoners of war from the fund collection of the Yelabuga State Historical, Architectural and Art Museum-Reserve (Russia, Republic of Tatarstan, Yelabuga).
