Meeting with students of Shintava city school

On the 4th of May 2018, the teachers of the Russian Center of the European Foundation of Slavic Literature and Culture met with students and teachers of the Russian language of the secondary school in Shintava named after Knyaz Svyatopolk. The meeting was also attended by pupils and teachers of the Russian language of the specialized school №80 from the city of Yaroslavl, who came to Shintava on exchange program.

Teachers exchanged their experience in teaching Russian. Children prepared speeches and sang Russian songs.

The meeting was timed to the 73rd anniversary of the Victory in The World War II. The delegation of the Russian Center together with students and teachers of the school, with the administration and guests took part in the solemn ceremony of laying wreaths at the monument to the Liberators in the city of Shintava. Many pupils and teachers had St. George ribbons.

The State secretary of the Ministry of Education of Slovakia O. Nachtmannova, the headman M. Golychka, the director of the school named after Svyatopolk - M. Bodis, representatives of the Embassy of the Russian Federation and deputies of the National Council of the Slovak Republic also attended the event.

The ancient Slovak town of Shintava dates back to the 8th century. It is famous for its gardens and the production of fine wines. In the 16th century, the first printing and publishing company in this country was created here.

 

In 1805, the Russian army passed through the city after the Battle of Austerlitz. In the school, with the support of the European Foundation of Slavic Literature and Culture, a bust of M.I. Kutuzov was mounted.

Representatives of the Russian Center presented to the school and honorary guests books in Russian about the Second World War and the history of Cossacks in Europe, which were published by the European Foundation of Slavic Literature and Culture.

All day the atmosphere of friendship and mutual understanding reigned. After such a warm meeting, nobody wanted to leave. The school principal and teachers accepted the invitation to visit the Russian center in Bratislava together with the students.
