The contest "Russian word" was held in Kosice

On the 5th of April 2019, the 13th annual all-Slovakian Contest "Russian Word" was held in the city of Kosice.

This year the theme of the competition is a phrase from a popular Russian song - “Friendship begins with a smile.” Participants traditionally competed in the following nominations: reading poetry and prose, performing of Russian songs solo and in ensemble.

The competition was attended by 177 students of schools, gymnasiums and students, 67 teachers from 64 schools from Slovakia, the winners of regional competitions.

The organizer of this popular competition is the Union of Russians in Kosice, with the financial support from the Ministry of Education of Slovakia, the "Kultminor" Foundation, with the support of the Russian Embassy in Slovakia, the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Bratislava, Kosice Magistrate’s Administration, the Kosice Self-Governing Authority.

The Russian center of the European Fund of Slavic Literature and Culture has presented at the competition the popular magazine “Russian world.ru”, which is published by the Russian World Foundation. During the final gala concert, memorable diplomas and gifts were presented to activists of the competition, as well as magazines.

The organizer of the competition, the head of the organization of compatriots of the “Union of Russians in Kosice” N.A. Dosovalova was awarded a diploma for active work on the preservation and dissemination of the Russian language abroad, signed by Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation S.V. Lavrov.
