Conference "The holy brothers Cyril and Methodius and their spiritual heritage in the culture of Russia and Slovakia"

On the 13th of October 2016 at the University Library in Bratislava was hosted a conference on the theme "The holy brothers Cyril and Methodius and their spiritual heritage in the culture of Russia and Slovakia", which was held in the framework of the Conference "Days of Russia in Slovakia."
Ther Conference was organized by the Ministry of Culture of Russian Federation in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic with the support of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Slovak Republic and with the support of Rossotrudnichestvo.
Russia and Slovakia are combined with age-old spiritual roots, kinship between languages, customs and common perception of the world, which is going back to the traditional cultural values. A huge role in the development of Slavic culture is played by Sacred Equal Apostles Cyril and Methodius, who have started their educational activities in the 9th century from the territory of present Slovakia.
The conference was attended by officials of two countries, as well as by the leading representatives of Russian culture, who offered to discuss the theme of Russian-Slovak cultural cooperation in different fields of art -  music, theater, cinema, literature, exhibition exchanges, museum cooperation in order to preserve the common Slavic heritage of our peoples.
The leaders of the Union of theatrical figures, the All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography, Russian State Library for Foreign Literature, Russian Ethnographic Museum, art schools and art groups performed the results of their works and made specific proposals for Humanitarian Cooperation. Director Andrea Richter from Slovenia told about the activities of the Forum of Slavic Cultures, which brings together 13 of the Slavic countries.
Employees of Russian Centre and the European Foundation of Slavic Literature and Culture took part in the conference and also exchanged their views on the possibilities of cooperation with Russian institutions with the other participants.
The participants strongly supported the initiative of the Russian organizations and expressed a great devotion to the friendship of our peoples and confidence in further strengthening of Slavic ties. Unanimously was agreed the idea of creating the Center of Slavic Cultures. As a result of discussions and presentations a final resolution was adopted .
