28 - 29 of August, 2016 in Moscow at the initiative of the fund "Russian World" was hosted the World Forum "In unity with Russia." The forum was attended by over 350 Russian compatriots - Russian citizens living abroad, from 97 countries.
The main theme of the presentations and panel discussions were devoted to the foreign policy of the Russian Federation, the rights and freedoms of Russian citizens living abroad, the participation of compatriots in the elections. Forum was opened by chairman of the "Russian world", the chairman of the Russian Federation State Duma Committee of the Formation - V.A. Nikonov. He welcomed the participants and highlighted the unifying role of the Russian language and culture, named the Russian scientists who have made significant contribution to the development of world science.
The forum was attended by the heads of federal legislative and executive bodies, well-known politicians and public figures, journalists, scientists, priests. Chairman of the Committee for Affairs the Commonwealth of Independent States, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots, Chairman of the Board of the International Public Fund "Russian Foundation for Peace" L.E Slutsky emphasized the importance of opening Russian schools and theaters abroad. These ideas were supported by the President of the International Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature (IATRLL), Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Fund "Russian world" L.A. Verbitskaya. The Head of the Federal Agency for CIS Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation (RosCooperation) L.N. Glebova expressed support for educational projects abroad.
The Chairman of the State Duma Committee of International Affairs A.K. Pushkov said about the expansion and dogmatism of Western values , to which for several centuries refers Russophobia. Chairman of the Committee of Federation Council on International Affairs K.I. Kosachev as a cause of pressure of Western countries on Russia named the independence of Russia. Russia is one of the few independent countries in the world who withstood the onslaught of pressure to defend its values. The President of the Republic of South Ossetia L.H. Tibilov told about the great power of Russia and its invaluable assistance to the Ossetian people.
The acuteness of the discussion was caused by questions and speeches of prominent politicians and compatriots: N.V. Zlobin from the US, T.A. Zhdanok from Latvia, A.A Trubetskoy from France, A.V. Eskin from Israel and representatives from unrecognized republics.
On the forum were discussed detail procedures of obtaining Russian citizenship for children of compatriots, participation in elections to various Russian authorities, as well as cooperation in the humanitarian sphere.
The highlight of the forum was the speech of the Chairman of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev, who expressed in a brief phrase, the spirit that reigned in the hall among participators: "Although that lives of many of you pass off away from Russia, but certainly not in isolation from it." As a result of speeches he has supported a number of initiatives of the participants.
The forum was attended by a delegation from Slovakia, headed by Executive Director of the European Fund of Slavic Literature and Culture, Head of the Russian Centre in Bratislava - Fund "Russian World" A.I. Bushuev.
According to the results of the Forum a resolution was adopted in which the participants unanimously expressed support for the Russian Federation's state policy aimed at protecting the rights and legitimate interests of Russian citizens living abroad, to promote the consolidation of the Russian world, the preservation and the expansion of the Russian ethno-cultural space.
The forum was covered by numerous media. The briefing was held for journalists. Reports and interviews from the forum were constantly broadcasted on the main television channels. Journalists and politicians praised the level of the event, participants' activity and the spirit of unity of compatriots.
